According to http://www.epsb.ky.gov/, the Education Professional Standards Board is responsible for issuing and renewing certificates for all Kentucky teachers and administrators. Staff works closely with local school districts in the hiring process to ensure a properly credentialed educator in every professional position in Kentucky schools. Staff also works with Kentucky colleges and universities, out-of-state institutions, and national evaluation agencies. EPSB processes approximately 25,000 certification transactions annually.
Kentucky certification is based upon the completion of a 4-year teacher preparation program that includes student teaching and testing when applicable. Kentucky requires a recommendation from the certification official at the college/university (where the applicant completed his/her initial teacher preparation program, student teaching) regarding the specific teacher preparation program completed, grade level, and at what degree level and completion date of the program.
Teachers with June 30, 2012 expiring certifications were notified by the district in writing in early March. Even if you were not notified, check your certification to be sure of the date of expiration. It is your responsibility to keep your certification up to date. Please contact EPSB or CCPS Human Resources with questions.

The Kentucky Employees’ Health Plan (KEHP) is launching a new wellness program called HumanaVitalitySM. Recently, you may have received a postcard in the mail from Humana announcing the launch of this program that is a part of KEHP’s LivingWell initiative implemented to promote health awareness among its members. This new, incentivized wellness program is available at no cost to KEHP members and their covered family members who are 18 years of age and older. A health plan member is defined as someone who carries KEHP Humana insurance, which includes many school district employees. Those who have health insurance through another provider or waive coverage are currently unable to participate.
Good health is its own reward. But it’s not the only one. HumanaVitalitySM is a breakthrough program that encourages you to make healthy choices and rewards you whenever you do. KEHP members can get started today by logging in at http://LivingWell.ky.gov and taking the health assessment. Learn more about HumanaVitalitySM by visiting http://www.personnel.ky.gov/dei/wellness/humanavitality.htm.
