Special Olympics Participation Project

Students at CCDT are partnering with a local non-profit organization that provides activities for adults with disabilities, STRIDE, to run in 400m relay races at the Regional Special Olympics tournament on Saturday April 28th. Four students from CCDT are going to participate in two relay races at Lexington’s Bryan Station High School on the 28th. The goal is to perform well and advance to the Special Olympics State Games held the first weekend in June at EKU in Richmond, KY.

Project Read

As part of a district-wide initiative to get students more involved in reading for fun, CCDT set monthly goals for students. Rewards were given for students who met the reading goals. Past rewards have included disc golf, game day, and dress down days. The current goal is to read 390 pages between March 1-April 13. For students who are able to achieve this, they will be rewarded with a trip to Movies 9 to watch the widly popular movie The Hunger Games.

Day Treatment Service Project

Students at CCDT have been participating in a community service project by growing an assortment of herbs for a local group of women. The students were asked by members of the Clark County Homemakers to grow 110 small pots of herbs such as dill, parsely, and sage. The herbs will be given away as door prizes at a dinner the Homemakers are hosting on April 24th.

Reading at Hannah McClure

Clark County Day Treatment students walked to Hannah McClure Elementary before spring break and read to the kindergarteners. All the students enjoyed it.
