Outstanding teacher of the year!

Strode Station is proud to announce one of our very own as the Outstanding Teacher of  the Year. On May 17, CCPS educator Jennifer Cooper was recognized by the Central Kentucky Special Education Cooperative as an Outstanding Educator for Clark County. Ms. Cooper is an L.D. Collaborative teacher at Strode Station Elementary. Congratulations, Jennifer!

Just Dance

As we wrap up this wonderful school year we were treated by a visit from Dancer’s Pointe.  Some of our very own Stallions performed a talent filled dance routine to the cheers of those watching.  We want to thank Dancer’s Pointe for visiting and performing for us!

Lego’s invade Strode Station

Who doesn’t love Lego’s? Today Strode Station was able to experience Lego’s in an educational way. Thanks to Ros Gay and the Family Resource Center we were able to apply science and Lego’s for a fun filled day of learning and constructing.  Engineering On-site Field Trip sponsored by Strode Station FRC. Students built a motorized car using Lego kits. In only 75 minutes, students will use science, technology, engineering and math!  Students cooperatively build and modify machines exhibiting basic engineering principles while using critical thinking and collaborations skills.

We also want to send a big thank you to both Mrs. Jackson’s and Mrs. Ferrell for being the leaders of the construction project! Once again thank you to Mrs. Gay and the Family Resource Center for covering the cost of this project.  Students will be bringing their new Lego cars home today or tomorrow so be looking for them.

Field Day!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On Monday, May 20, all students will be participating in Field Day events at Strode Station Elementary. This year, students will be participating in a more traditional Field Day with individual and homeroom relay events. In order to make this a successful event, we’re asking that each student bring the following items with them to use on that day:

  • Hat and sunglasses (we will be outside for at least two hours)
  • If you are prone to sunburn, then I suggest students bring sunscreen. I do not encourage students to share these supplies!
  • Beach Towel
  • Bottle of water (may be frozen and allowed to thaw)
  • Please wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.

While not participating in a relay event, students will act as audience members to cheer on other homerooms and grade levels. Each student will receive a participation ribbon. In addition, if an event is won by an individual or homeroom, students will receive a certificate.

Thanks!

Coach Hatfield

Duck Dynasty Pep Rally

Today was a great day at Strode Station Elementary.  We spent the morning celebrating all of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades efforts to prepare for the KPREP test starting tomorrow.  We want to send a huge shout out to the teachers and staff that participated in the pep rally.  The students had a blast playing games while using their testing strategies to lead the way to victory.  Congrats to the 5th grade for their overall victory today!  Parents don’t forget we start testing tomorrow. Please make sure your student is ready to roll with plenty of sleep.
