Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.

Scott Adams

Let’s make art together! This course will explore different art making processes, media, purposes for making art, and art history. The majority of the course will be hands on with various projects, however there will also be written assessments, individual reflections over content and weekly sketches that will be due.
The concepts listed below will be the focus for the course based around the Kentucky Core Content for Visual Arts.

Elements of Art
Principles of Design
Various types of media
Subject matter
Purposes for art making
Art History

Class participation is not an option; it is mandatory for you to succeed in this classroom. Each student will be evaluated on their participation and completion of assignments not their natural artistic talent. You may be the next star but you will still be expected to participate in class and turn in your assignments on time!

My name is Jessica Jackson and I teach Visual Arts for all grades here at Clark Middle School. This is my second year teaching and I am so happy to be here working with your students! It took me some time in college to figure out what path I was meant to go down but I know this is it! I chose to work in education to instill the passion that I have for Art into other who are finding their way through life.

I recently have gotten married so if you hear your student(s) talking about Mrs. Scolf-that would be me!
